About Me

MR

I'm a Staff Software Engineer based in Barcelona with over 10 years of experience building and operating cloud-native, event-driven platforms in production. My work sits at the intersection of platform engineering, distributed systems design, and cross-team technical leadership.

Currently at Telavox AB, I own the end-to-end architecture of a real-time analytics platform that processes 10M+ telephony events per day — from initial design to production reliability. Previously I led IoT platform development at Amper / NVISION, and worked on mission-critical systems for airlines and enterprise clients across Spain.

I care deeply about reliability, observability, and system correctness. I enjoy mentoring engineers, driving architecture reviews, and making complex distributed systems understandable, maintainable, and built to last.

Architecture Focus

Areas where I bring deep, hands-on expertise — from design decisions to production ownership.

⚡

Event-Driven Systems

Designing high-throughput, fault-tolerant event pipelines with RabbitMQ and Kafka. Deep experience with Event Sourcing for auditability, temporal queries, and incident debugging at production scale.

☁

Cloud-Native Platforms

End-to-end ownership of Kubernetes-based platforms with Helm, horizontal autoscaling, zero-downtime deployments, and multi-tenant isolation on Azure and Google Cloud Platform.

🔭

Domain-Driven Design

Applying DDD, CQRS, and Bounded Contexts to build systems that accurately model complex business domains while remaining evolvable, testable, and maintainable over time.

📡

Distributed Reliability

Designing for failure: idempotency, backpressure, graceful degradation, and circuit breakers. Observability stacks with Prometheus and Grafana enabling SLO-driven operations and proactive incident response.

🏗

Platform Engineering

Building internal platforms and standardized engineering practices — CI/CD pipelines, shared infrastructure patterns, and developer tooling that enable multiple teams to ship reliably and consistently.

🤝

Technical Leadership

Acting as technical authority across teams: leading architecture reviews, mentoring engineers, making complex trade-offs explicit, and creating alignment on system-level decisions that span organizational boundaries.

Experience

Staff Software Engineer – Platform / Real-Time Analytics

Telavox AB

Mar 2025 – Present
  • Architected and owned a real-time, event-driven analytics platform processing 10M+ events per day for large-scale telephony systems (calls, queues, IVR).
  • Designed a distributed, high-throughput architecture using RabbitMQ, optimized for scalability, fault tolerance, and predictable performance under load.
  • Led design and implementation of Python microservices on Kubernetes, enabling horizontal autoscaling and zero-downtime deployments via Helm.
  • Introduced Event Sourcing to support near real-time analytics, full auditability of event flows, and improved incident debugging and traceability.
  • Acted as technical authority across multiple teams: leading architecture reviews, mentoring engineers, and unblocking complex system-level decisions.
  • Designed and built the Data Visualization Layer (DVL), a multi-tenant real-time analytics platform powering embedded dashboards inside Telavox's products. Chose to build over off-the-shelf tools (Grafana, Cube.js, TrinoDB) because none combined server-side tenant isolation with change-aware live data and embeddability.
  • Architected pluggable data drivers (Elasticsearch, MySQL, BigQuery) and a declarative YAML widget catalogue — new dashboards ship without code changes.
  • Built a WebSocket live layer using shared async polling tasks per widget key, reducing concurrent query cost by orders of magnitude vs per-viewer polling.
  • Enforced multi-tenant isolation at the data layer via JWT-derived WHERE injection that cannot be bypassed by callers.

Senior / Lead Software Engineer – IoT Platforms

Amper Sensing & Control / NVISION

Jun 2019 – Mar 2025
  • Led architecture and development of cloud-native, multi-tenant IoT platforms for industrial monitoring, geolocation, and energy systems.
  • Designed event-driven ingestion pipelines for high-volume IoT telemetry across heterogeneous devices and protocols.
  • Defined and standardized CI/CD pipelines and engineering practices across multiple teams, improving delivery consistency and system quality.
  • Designed secure, scalable APIs for device communication and data ingestion.

Software Engineer – Distributed Systems

Volotea · Vueling · Plain Concepts (Lidl Plus) · Wolters Kluwer · Indra BPO

2012 – 2019

Worked on mission-critical systems in aeronautical and enterprise environments, focusing on distributed architectures, legacy modernization, migrations to .NET Core, and adoption of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS patterns.

Pentest Pilot

AI-native automated penetration testing engine that orchestrates 70+ security tools across 12 MITRE ATT&CK phases. Built as a deliberate alternative to manual red team workflows — combining a LangGraph state machine for phase orchestration, Kali Linux workers dispatched via RabbitMQ, and an optional cognitive "brain mode" with ReAct reasoning and ChromaDB RAG for hypothesis-driven exploitation. Designed for multi-tenant deployments with per-audit Elasticsearch indexing and a live React dashboard for real-time findings and ATT&CK heatmap coverage.
